The Day of Qingming
Du Mu (803-852)
Translated by Wang Daoyu

A rainy day around the Day of Qingming,
A roamer, heart-broken, is wearily walking.
He asks for a tavern, to a buffalo boy,
Who points to a village afar, where plums are blooming.

The Day of Qingming: Literally "The Pure Brightness Day", which falls on April 5th every year and is the traditional day for the Chinese people to pay homage to their ancestors' tombs.
